The courses which support medical work but do not require a fully qualified doctor (such as nursing, radiography, emergency first aid, physiotherapy, etc are called paramedical courses. These can also be termed as emergency or pre-hospital services. There are diploma paramedical courses as well as degree courses too. AIIMS conducts its own entrance test for paramedical courses. There are diploma paramedical courses after completing 10th and paramedical certificate courses too. Some paramedical courses are very famous such as nursing, Diploma in O.T Technician, Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technique, B.Sc in Radiotherapy, and many more. Usually, the admission is based on 12th standard percentages although some colleges do prefer entrance exams such as NEET and AIIMS Paramedical exam (required by AIIMS colleges). Once the merit list is prepared according to the cutoff, the counseling begins. The authorities allot you a college based on your merit and choice.
